AMLO won the Mexican presidential election, and Trump and AMLO have already begun to communicate it what could be a positive relationship. And why not? I support any positive, mutually beneficial dealings between the U.S. and Mexican governments.
But would a President AMLO, as Trump has said, really “help us with the border”?
Color me skeptical. I just don’t see it.
It’s our responsibility to get control of our own border. We can’t count on Mexico, or any other country, to help us.

NOTE: In the section at the end of the article, entitled “A side note on Mexican election laws:”, in the fourth paragraph, second sentence, it reads ” They have a book with the photograph of each and every voter precinct.” That should read “They have a book with the photograph of each and every voter in the precinct. “

Mexico is a racially-stratified society. The higher you go up the socioeconomic ladder in Mexico, the whiter are the Mexicans. The lower you go down the socioeconomic ladder, the darker the Mexicans.
I’ve said that for years, and several recent studies are verifying it. This latest is from CIDE (Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas, “Center for Research and Teaching in Economics”) a Mexican higher education institution and think tank.

The Mexican government condemned the family separation policy as “cruel and inhumane”.
Wait a minute. If Mexico had controlled its own immigration, then all these Central American illegal aliens wouldn’t be here.

President Trump recently imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum from Mexico. Mexico retaliated by imposing tariffs on certain exports from the United States.
That’s not too complicated.
However, there’s more to it than that.
Mexico’s recently-announced retaliatory tariffs were specifically imposed on products produced in Republican areas of the United States.
It almost makes one suspect that Mexican policy-makers actually pay attention to U.S. political trends, doesn’t it?

So what are the “seven infallible arguments” and how “infallible” are they?

Mexico has an election on July 1st. The presidential frontrunner (one of four candidates) is Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, known by his initials as AMLO. Polling shows the candidate way ahead. Here’s AMLO’s photo:

Earlier this month, AMLO explained how he is going to talk Trump into joining (and paying for) a vast continental aid program that would supposedly keep Mexicans and Central Americans at home.
From the candidate’s own website:
Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced that, upon becoming President of Mexico, his approach would be to make Donald Trump see reason, the need for development cooperation among the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Central American countries.
Adelanta AMLO que planteará a Trump un acuerdo de cooperación entre EU, Canadá, México y Centroamérica
[“AMLO Proposes That He Will Suggest to Trump a Cooperation Accord Among the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Central America”]
AMLO website, June 10, 2018
AMLO says that “he will propose to Trump a cooperative accord to promote productive activities, so that there will be jobs and he said that if in Central America and in Mexico, if there are jobs and well-being, the people will not emigrate.”
How many times have we heard this before? Actually many people who have jobs emigrate for the simple reason that they can make more money in the U.S. than working at a comparable job in Mexico or Central America. So I have my doubts about this.
AMLO says this is going to happen “whether Trump accepts it or not”, and that “a Mexican can work and be happy where he is born, where his family, customs and cultures are. Whoever wants to go, goes for pleasure and not for necessity.”
It sounds good in theory. But as long as the border is open, I think you’ll have Latin Americans crossing it.
“We want a similar accord [to the Alliance for Progress, a 1960s aid program], an accord that sustains cooperation for development that includes the migratory problem, the defense of human rights, that salaries are improved in Central America and Mexico and especially that there are development projects in Central America and Mexico to keep the population in their places of origin. That is the goal.”
To be paid for by the United States.
Yet even if we financed this massive aid program, would it really accomplish all this?
Would it really stop the illegal alien invasion?
Somehow, I doubt it.
How about we solve our problems and Mexico and Central America solve their problems?
