On May 20th, the second Mexican presidential debate was held, this time in Tijuana. The theme was “Mexico and the World”. Therefore there was plenty of Trump-bashing, complaining about U.S. deportation of illegal aliens, and pledges to meddle more in the United States.

Getting control of immigration involves several strategies. One is to guard the border. Another is to detain and deport illegal aliens. And another is to audit companies to see if their employees are legal.
And American cheap labor profiteers who hire illegal aliens ought to be punished.
The Trump administration is increasing audits of companies, checking to see if their employees are legal. That’s a good thing.

To reform our immigration system, there is much Trump can do with executive authority, but for a complete reform Congress needs to pass some laws.
And there is evidence from the primaries that Republican candidates are becoming more Trumpish on immigration, which is a good thing.
Let’s see how it all turns out.
