Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto has completed nearly five months of his presidency, and the question of security and the ongoing drug war violence are not going away.

Analyzing the violence statistics and finding trends is not easy.   Plus, there’s the political factor.

Mexico is often presented both by its defenders and its detractors  (for different reasons) as a poverty-stricken country.

Well, Mexico is poor compared to the United States. But it’s not a poor country by world standards.

And there are plenty of wealthy Mexicans, including many millionaires.   And even some billionaires (dollars, not pesos).

Forbes Magazine annually releases its list of billionaires, and this year the list included fifteen Mexicans, including Carlos Slim, the richest man in the world.

“The University of Texas will change its colors to maroon and white before Texas goes purple, much less blue,” Gov. Rick Perry has  claimed.

Perry, and indeed many Texans, seem confident that it won’t happen, but if present demographic trends continue, can Texas avoid turning Democratic?

Consider what this would mean. Texas has 38 electoral votes. If Texas moved to the Democratic column, would the GOP—or any party besides the Democratic Party —be able to win a presidential election?

From the perspective of the National Question, the 2012 election was a real bummer.

By the time one voted on November 6th, what were the options, really? Vote for Mitt Romney, as many of us did, and hope for the best. Or vote for some third party candidate who’d get a microscopic portion of the vote.

Obama won, and is even more empowered than he was before. He’s only beginning four more years of his agenda. Who knows what he’ll accomplish as the demographic clock ticks away on the historic American nation.

In 2016,  how can we improve our chances to get a president who truly cares about national sovereignty and controlling our border, and one who favors a decrease in legal immigration?

Lawrence Auster passed away on March 29th, 2013, in Pennsylvania.    Auster was a great influence  on many of us.   Lawrence Auster’s  ongoing project was  the construction of a principle-based  conservatism based on the multi-leveled nature of our nation and civilization.   Reading Auster’s website,  View from the Right, was a truly educational  experience.   The good thing is that the site is being maintained after  Larry’s death, with plans to keep it up “as long as the Internet  exists”.

Only a tiny percentage of the enormous illegal alien population in our country is being deported.   The Obama administration is, generally speaking,  anti-deportation.

Not entirely, however. The administration has found a few foreigners it would like to deport.

The  Department of Justice (DOJ) is actively working to deport a German homeschooling family who had already been granted refugee asylum status.

It’s not an oversight.  Eric Holder’s DOJ has gone out of its way to get this family deported.

The   political/media/academic axis drones on and on about how bad illegal aliens have it.  It’s a major propaganda assault.   Obviously, if they were being treated that badly, they’d have gone home long ago. And if their main goal is to keep their families together, they’d have stayed in the home country.

We need to fight fire with fire.   The media presents victim stories to the public so we need to present victim stories to the public.    We need to tell stories too.   We need to get the word out about Americans who are harmed by illegal immigration.

Among the many leaders of the amnesty movement are evangelical Christian leaders  who are attempting to guilt- trip their congregations into supporting amnesty.

Evangelicals don’t form a monolithic entity, and there is no hierarchy or central organization that can claim to speak for all of them.

Nevertheless, there is no doubt that  influential evangelical leaders who push for amnesty can win over at least some of their followers.  And in the battle over amnesty, every voice counts.

Do you believe that American immigration policy should be decided upon by American citizens?
In recent years, foreign governments have taken a strong interest in our immigration policies and are actively meddling to promote their interests.    That’s certainly true now with the current debate over amnesty.
Mexico is the main country doing this.   But it’s certainly not the only country doing it.
For example, three  Central American countries – Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras – have teamed up to push for amnesty for their illegal aliens on U.S. soil.

Besides the complexities of the Puerto Rico Status Question,  there’s another important question that must be asked in the meantime. How does Puerto Rico fit into our overall immigration system?

This is not a reference to the status of Puerto Ricans themselves, who are U.S. citizens, but of non-U.S. citizens who may enter the U.S. through Puerto Rico. You could call that the Puerto Rico Border Question.

Puerto Rico’s new governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla (who is anti-statehood) has just expanded rights  for illegal aliens in Puerto Rico.
