Can you believe it? Donald Trump won the 2016 election.
There is plenty more work to be done. But for now, let us bask in the glow of the Trump Triumph and reflect on what is means, and what it could mean.

Many people think Mexico has a wall on its southern border, but it doesn’t. However, if Trump wins and, as pledged, builds a wall on the U.S.- Mexican border, Mexico might be forced to effectively fence off its borders with Guatemala and Belize.
That could be beneficial for all the countries involved.

(Note: Mexico’s borders with Guatemala and Belize are often referred to as its southern border, but that’s an approximation. If you look at a map you can see that most of Mexico’s border with Guatemala is an eastern border.)

The U.S. presidential election, pitting Donald Trump against Hillary Clinton, is November 8th.
In Mexico, Donald Trump has been excoriated in the media and among the political class since he announced his candidacy in June of 2015. The candidate has been likened to Hitler; he’s been slammed by politicians, journalists and entertainment personalities. Mexican politicians have even meddled in the U.S. presidential election to impede a Trump triumph.
But what if Trump does win?

Election Day is nearing, and it could be close.
The attacks on Trump continue. And that’s totally understandable. Of course leftists, globalists and anti-Americans would oppose a Trump candidacy. I totally get that.
What’s harder to explain is the bitter opposition to Trump among some Republicans, conservatives, constitutionalists and Christians. What’s going on here?

My latest Said in Spanish article reports on a meddling Mexican governor in California, anti-Trump Mexican music stars and New York Times editorial in two languages.

In the past two debates, Hillary Clinton has expressed her shock at purported Russian meddling in a U.S. election, claiming that foreign intervention in a U.S. election has never occurred before.
On the other hand, Hillary apparently has no problem with Mexican intervention to help her in the election.
Mexican singer Vicente Fernandez has a pro-Hillary song out, financed by the U.S. Latino Victory Project.
Wait a minute, isn’t Vicente Fernandez a Mexican citizen? Why is he getting involved in our election?
Anyway, Hillary appreciated it and thanked Vicente Fernandez in person.

Donald Trump, to his credit, is running an English-only campaign, which means no ads in Spanish and no website en español.
With Hillary, of course, that’s not the case, and the Spanish section of her “Hillary for America” website is quite informative, as it shows us what she wants to emphasize to Spanish-speaking voters about her immigration policies.
I strongly oppose Spanish-language campaigning in the United States. It further balkanizes our society and makes it even easier for candidates to say different things to different groups of people.

The American voter registration system is a shambles, and easily facilitates voter fraud. Is it a big enough problem to affect the outcome of the 2016 election?
Note that Democrats get hysterical whenever a state tries to enact tighter voter registration procedures. Hmm, why is that?
We ought to look at Mexico’s superior voter registration system as an example, as I’ve written several times before.
Over at the Federalist website, John Gibbs has an informative article entitled Voter Fraud is Real. Here’s the Proof.

The Pew Research Center has released a political survey of Hispanics. There’s a lot there.
The main message is that Hispanic political attitudes aren’t that different than they were four years ago.
As far as the election, according to the Pew poll, of Latino registered voters, 58% are for Clinton with only 19% for Trump. Four years ago, 71% of Latinos voted for Obama and 27% voted for Romney. After the general election, it should be interesting to see the demographics of it. When it’s all said and done, Trump may do as well as Romney.
And this is interesting – the minority of Latinos who support Trump are more likely to (a) have been born in the U.S. versus having been born in another country, and (2)be English-dominant. That’s very interesting.
