There is concern in the United States about the Mexican election, that leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) might win.
My view is that if the U.S. has leadership that protects our sovereignty, it doesn’t matter who is the next president of Mexico. Let the Mexicans choose their own leader!
In fact, when it comes to Trump-bashing and attacks on U.S. sovereignty, the winner is not AMLO but “right-winger” Ricardo Anaya.
But once again, if we have leadership that protects our sovereignty, to the U.S. it shouldn’t matter who is the next president of Mexico!

NOTE: In the first paragraph of the article, as edited, it says “Ricardo Anaya of the ‘conservative’ …For Mexico to the Front Coalition.” Actually, that coalition is formed by the PAN (considered right-wing) and the PRD (considered left-wing) and a smaller party. So the coalition isn’t really regarded as a right-wing coalition, but Anaya could be considered right-wing as his party (the PAN) is considered a right-wing party.

There’s a presidential election campaign underway in Mexico, but recently President Pena Nieto gave a little speech defending Mexico against the supposed hostility of Trump, and he quoted these four candidates and they agreed with them.
So that’s a subject they can all agree on.

The caravan heading through Mexico is disbanding, but that doesn’t mean none of the marchers (mostly Hondurans) are going to the United States. Conveniently, many of them are given permits by Mexico allowing them to be in Mexico long enough to get to the United States.
The caravan did provoke President Trump to put the National Guard on the border.

As a response to the migrant caravan in Mexico, President Trump has decided to deploy the National Guard on the border.
Unsurprisingly, that’s not popular among the Mexican elite.

NOTE: The title of the article, as published on VDARE, is “No Latin Americans Respect American Sovereignty and There Can Be Compromise With Them”. I would not have written that. We can’t say that “No Latin Americans Respect American Sovereignty”. As for “No Compromise”, we shouldn’t compromise on the issue of sovereignty with those who don’t respect our sovereignty. So, I don’t like the title.

Though not a descendant of a Confederate veterans, I recently attended a Sons of Confederate Veterans rally. I respect the work the group is doing in preserving American heritage, because the current hysterical attack on Confederate monuments is really an attack on American heritage.
And the protesters who there protesting the Sons of Confederate Veterans provided an education themselves! What is it they really want?

NOTE: The title is not really accurate. It reads “Allan Wall Attends First Sons of Confederate Veterans Rally, Is Chanted At By Masked Protesters”. In the first place, most of the protesters were not masked, though some were. In the second place, the protesters weren’t “chanting” at me. It’s possible a few times something was specifically yelled at me. But not chanting.
The eighth paragraph (beginning “Right across the road…”) reads “Right across the road was a noisy, raucous group of protesters (many of them masked….”. Actually, some of them were masked, but not “many”.
These are errors resulting from the editing process. Since this is my website, I point them out here in the interests of greater accuracy.
Mexico had a team at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. There were four skiers on the Mexican team.
In many ways though, the Mexican team was not really very Mexican. Only two were born in Mexico, only two speak Spanish, only one currently resides in Mexico.
And yet, they were very proud to compete for Mexico.
Some of it may be opportunism. But I think it also indicates the strength of Mexican nationalism. And that’s something to consider when we’re dealing with millions of people from Mexico in the United States. Are they going to identify more with Mexico or with the United States? It’s a fair question.
