Spain held state and local elections on May 28, and the leftists did poorly. So poorly, in fact, that Presidente Pedro Sanchez called snap elections for July 23.

Florida recently passed a law, which is scheduled to take effect July 1st, that will prohibit bringing illegal aliens into the state or allowing them to take jobs.
This sounds totally reasonable to me, but the Mexican government doesn’t like it.

In May of 2023, Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard, yet another of those white Mexicans, visited Oklahoma and Florida, both of which have Republican governors. Not only did he attend the opening of a consulate in Oklahoma City, in Florida, Ebrard openly campaigned against the state’s new immigration laws that require, among other things, employers to use E-Verify.

Florida’s new law, passed by its legislature and signed by Governor DeSantis, called SB 1718, then Chapter No. 2023-40, among other things, requires employers to use E-Verify and penalizes those who transport illegals into Florida. Even before taking effect on July 1, the law was scaring illegal aliens.

Historically, Spain has a massive influence on Mexico: the language, the culture, the religion, and the demographics. It’s obvious.
But did you know it’s not all a one-way street? Contemporary Spain has also been influenced by Mexico.
My two sons and I, who lived many years in Mexico, recently visited Spain, and we saw these cultural links firsthand.
Note that during colonial times, the country of Spain was called “New Spain”, the term “Mexico” referred to Mexico City.)
