President Trump has made immigration-related deals with Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.
These deals aren’t substitutes for getting control of our own border, but they help to reduce the amount of foreigners getting to the U.S. border.
Our asylum policy was not designed for economic migrants, but that’s what it’s been used for.
It’s time for Central American countries to solve their own problems. Maybe we can help, but they have to do the heavy lifting.
What they have been doing is using the United States as substitute for solving their own problems.
Nayib Bukele, President of El Salvador, has recognized this and has some interesting comments.

A new migrant caravan, this one mostly composed of Haitians and Cubans with apparently some Central Americans, departed Tapachula, Mexico, with hopes of arriving to the United States.
But by the time they’d traveled about 20 miles, they were stopped cold by Mexican security forces.
