Texas Governor Rick Perry has called up the National Guard to be deployed on the state’s border with Mexico. As a veteran of the Texas Army National Guard myself, I have confidence in the Texas National Guard, but not much confidence in Governor Perry.
To put it in a nutshell, Rick Perry is a big talker but his record shows that he’s done much as governor and presidential candidate to encourage illegal immigration. I just don’t trust Perry on this issue.
However, I would love to be proven wrong. If Rick Perry would really commit himself to securing the border, that would be great
It’s obvious that the federal government has not sealed the border, and has no intention of doing so. Therefore, it is incumbent upon the government of Texas to take action and secure and seal its border with Mexico.
And I have a proposal to do exactly that.
The goal would be for Texas to seal its 1200-mile border with Mexico, to prevent illegal crossings. Seal your border, Texas!
Drastic? Maybe. But drastic times call for drastic measures.
