Guatemala has a consular network in the United States of 17 Guatemalan consulates (with 10 consulates in Mexico).
That’s a rather impressive consular network for a country the size of Guatemala.
The reason is there are a lot of Guatemalans in the United States.
A recent report in the Guatemalan government newspaper says the Guatemalan consular network is monitoring alien detention centers in the United States, to make sure they are following health protocols. It’s the age of COVID-19, you know.
