Willis Carrier invented the modern air conditioning system, and founded the Carrier company, now part of United Technologies. Its factory in Indianapolis, Indiana manufactures residential and commercial furnaces and air handlers.
It has now been decided to shut down the Indianapolis plant (and distribution center) and move both to Monterrey, Mexico. This would affect 1,400 workers.
A brief video films the moment in which company president Chris Nelson announces to the workers that the plant is being relocated.
That announcement was on February 10th. On February 13th, Donald Trump mentioned the Carrier decision in the GOP debate.
